Cycling Capes with Long Sleeves
A cycling rain cape with sleeves keeps you warmer, but can make you sweat more. It is generously sized and gives you freedom to move.
A long sleeve cycling cape is an excellent choice for wet sports like boating, canoeing, rain walking, or swimming because it offers several benefits that make the experience more enjoyable and safe. Here are some reasons why:
Wind and weather protection
A long sleeve cape provides additional coverage against wind, rain, cold temperatures, and sun exposure,
keeping you comfortable during wet sports activities.
Sun protection
Many cycing capes come with a UPF (Ultraviolet Protection Factor) rating,
which means they can shield your skin from harsh sun rays while you're out on the water or walking through rain.
Warmth retention
The long sleeves help to trap body heat, providing extra insulation against chilly mornings or late-afternoon rides.
This is particularly important when participating in open-water swimming or boating on chilly days.
Style Points
Let's not forget that a long sleeve hiking cape can add a touch
of adventure, elegance and sophistication and style to your wet sports outfit,
making you stand out from the crowd in a stylish way.
Versatility
Capes are designed to be worn in various ways like draped over your shoulders,
wrapped around your waist, or even used as a makeshift swimsuit when needed.
Easy drying
Many capes are made with quick-drying materials like nylon or polyester,
which means they'll dry quickly if you get caught in the rain,
or sweat excessively during your ride, or go into the water.
They keep you warm by wicking away moisture quickly after contact with water.
Added Safety Feature
In case of an unexpected change in weather conditions,
a long sleeve cycling cape on can provide extra warmth and protection.
In the event of an unexpected capsize or fall into the water,
having a long sleeve cape on will help you swim to safety and keep you warm when you come out of the water.
Multi-sport use
A cycling cape with long sleeves is not just limited to cycling,
it's also great for hiking, running, or even swimming (see below).
Its versatility makes it a valuable addition to your outdoor gear collection.
Overall, a long sleeve cycling cape offers numerous benefits that make it an excellent choice
for anyone looking to stay comfortable and protected while enjoying their favorite wet outdoor activities,
with added safety features, and even some stylish flair.
So go ahead and embrace your wet fun while staying warm and comfortable.
Swimming
Swimming in a long sleeve cycling cape may seem unusual, but it can actually be quite enjoyable and advantageous. Here are some reasons why:
Extra warmth
The long sleeves help to trap body heat, keeping you warmer while swimming in cold water.
Sun protection
As mentioned earlier, many capes come with UPF ratings that protect your skin from sunburn during extended periods of exposure.
Added buoyancy
Some cycling capes are made with lightweight and breathable materials that can help to keep you afloat more easily while swimming.
Streamlined movement
The cape's design allows for smooth, unencumbered movements in the water, making it easier to swim or paddle without getting tangled up.
Adventure factor
Swimming in a long sleeve cycling cape adds an element of adventure and uniqueness to your aquatic experience, which can be quite exhilarating!
Fun with friends
Imagine swimming alongside friends while wearing capes.
It's a great way to bond and create memorable experiences together.
Photo opportunities
You'll definitely stand out in photos or videos taken during your swim, making for some fun memories and social media posts!
Improved visibility
The bright colors of the cape can help you stay visible while swimming in open water, which is especially important when boating or kayaking with others.
Added safety feature
In case of a sudden change in weather conditions or an unexpected accident, having a long sleeve cycling cape on can provide extra warmth and protection until help arrives.
Swimming in a long sleeve cycling cape may not be for everyone,
but it certainly offers some unique advantages that make the experience more enjoyable and memorable.
So why not give it a try and see what all the fun is about? 🏊 ♂️🌊 💦

by Pierre from Bordeaux, FranceCycling along the coast with my friends is great fun, come rain or shine. I wear an old hiking cape for cycling and swimming. It is no longer waterproof so I get soaking wet quickly, but it keeps the wind of my body.
Cycling in the rain is a wonderful experience, but we also wear our capes for sun protection. Whenever we come to beautiful beach we jump into the water to cool off. Swimming in cycling capes with sleeves is easy. No need to change into swimwear.
Sunny days with heavy showers are my favourite.
I always get soaking wet on my cycling trips. Great fun.
